The Middle Georgia Healthy Family Coalition (MGHFC) was founded by Ricky and Tonya Moore in April, 2006. Ricky and Tonya have been married for 13 years. As college sweethearts God began to reveal the beginning stages of His plan in the life of this couple.
MGHFC’s vision is to alert couples of the importance of Godly relationships and how they can be used to glorify God and build His kingdom. Our purpose is to become more effective in ministering to families by providing true practical life-changing support in relationships.
They began God’s ministry together as St. Stephen Baptist Church in Louisville, KY where Dr. Kevin Cosby is the Senior Pastor. As they began to assist with couple’s conferences and with couples bible studies and Sunday school and couples outings, God then began to use them to mentor couples.
At the end of this season, God moved them to Middle Georgia. He sent them to Beulahland Bible Church in Macon, Georgia were Maurice Watson is the Senior Pastor. God began to use them immediately in ministry as the Marriage and Relationship Coordinators
At the beginning of their tenure God used them to develop a curriculum for couples that was used during adult bible fellowship classes. These biblical based classes allowed couples to learn about conflict management, peacemaking, communication, and spiritual/sexual intimacy. Ricky and Tonya also created an environment to enrich couples through frequent interaction through study and extracurricular activities.
Ricky and Tonya are currently in the process of developing a formal mentoring program that will provide a foundation within the body of Christ.
The Middle Georgia Healthy Family Coalition’s main focus is to strengthen families through marriage education within the Middle Georgia Area. Through this coalition, relationships are developed between faith-based organizations, service providers, local government and the school systems just to name a few. These relationships and resources are then packaged into a vehicle that ultimately strengthens families in the neighborhood in which we live and work. Healthy Families is what God has ordained for the Body of Christ since the beginning of time.
As their passion for strengthening marriages increase, Ricky and Tonya’s future goal is to develop a curriculum that can be used for our youth to educate them early on about healthy marriages.
